I needed a temporary valance in my mudroom since the existing one didn’t go with the rugs I had to purchase for my dog. I don’t think I’ll ever get used to the term “puddling” in drapery lingo. It’s a funny term but it is a feature to be decided upon when getting custom drapery for your windows. Puddling is the result of the excess fabric length when lies on the floor. I ran across this question recently and I thought about what I would advise if I were consulting today.

I absolutely love my bedroom drapery. My room has an enormous triple window and two smaller windows flanking our bed. I chose black out curtains on wooden rods with rings. If I didn’t have black out curtains, we would be waking up at the crack of dawn. I wanted a light look in my master bedroom but regular fabric panels let too much sun-light through. When decorating, I don’t want to get locked into a look for too long a time as I tire easily. Like with my window treatments, I change them fairly often which allows me to change the vibe the room. I will share a trick that I use to create a custom drapery look, but with out breaking the bank. The living room photo below from my last post has drapery panels on an iron rod with rings. The panels are pinch pleated, a style generally associated with custom made window treatments.
